Nalanda Open University
Nalanda Open University is the only university in Bihar that specializes in imparting knowledge through distance education. The school was established in March 1987 under an ordinance issued by the Government of Bihar. Later, the Bihar Legislative Assembly passed the Nalanda Open University Act (1995), which amended the Act and the university got a new constitution. The school is named after the famous Nalanda University in ancient India. The university has established a fully automated and modern office in its campus in Patna, spread over an area of approximately 60,000 square metres. The university provides education through distance education and is accredited by the Distance Education Commission (DEC), University Grants Commission and Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India.
