JVBI was founded under the inspiration of Acharya Tulsi, the ninth head of the Sutambal Trappant Jain sect in Radnan, Nauru District, Rajasthan. In March 1991, the Government of India declared JVBI a 'Deemed University' under Section 3 of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956.

Jain Vishwa Bharati Institute (JVBI) is committed to providing the highest quality educational services for the maximum satisfaction of students and providing them an opportunity to develop an integrated personality with a blend of spirituality and moral values.
JVBI was established in Radunun, Deedwana Kuchaman District, Rajasthan, under the inspiration of Gurudev Tulsi. In 1991, the Government of India declared JVBI a deemed university under Section 3 of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956. The institute is still housed on the common campus of its parent organization, Jain Visva Bharati.
Since its inception, JVBI has strived to popularize Oriental studies. For this purpose, the institute offers regular and correspondence courses to serve those who are unable to learn about Jainism and other related subjects through regular studies. This program allows students to gain knowledge and, at the same time, build an academic career. The program focuses on courses like Jainism, Life Sciences, Business, and English Literature.
